Her name is Sonakshi Yadav, and she serves as a Village Development Officer in Rajasthan. She was arrested by an anti-corruption team while accepting a bribe of ₹1,000. She was extorting this sum from a poor man in exchange for approving a housing allotment under the PM Awas Yojana. It is alleged that she had previously taken ₹1,500, and a further payment of ₹1,500 had been agreed upon. What possible reason could compel an educated government employee, who earns between ₹50,000 and ₹60,000 a month, to demand a bribe of a mere ₹1,000 or ₹2,000 from a destitute individual who does not even possess a home of his own? How utterly shameful is this? Is she unable to sustain her household on her own salary? Yet, when the wheel of time turns, and divine retribution strikes during their very lifetimes, afflicting their children with ailments such as cancer, they are seen cursing God, lamenting that they never committed any sin in their lives.
