The ironic thing about the internet's obsession with "holding people accountable" is that it's created an environment where taking accountability hold zero benefit whatsoever.

People who's whole grift is hounding people for perceived infractions don't want said infractions to stop. The infractions are how they make money. No amount of "accountability" will be good enough because if it were good enough they'd stop making money.

What's frustrating is there are a lot of things that come easily to me that most neurotypicals struggle with immensely, but if dismiss their inability to do these things the way they dismiss my limitations, they shockingly get really mad about it.

In "A Disability History of the United States," Kim E. Nelson talks about how disabled people were, in many ways, treated better in pre-industrial times, since work could be tailored to the worker and eugenics hadn't exploded in popularity. But i think there's another reason:

Due to the widespread comforts of industrialization, most first-world abled people never come up against their physical limits. The world is far more engineered for their comfort than it was 200 years ago. As a result, a lot of them can't comprehend the idea of having limits.

I think a lot of NTs are totally unaware of how much work their brains do automatically in the background and how reliant on that background processing they are. It's like someone who has a team of butlers who thinks their laundry magically folds itself.

The best metaphor i have is that your brain is an automatic and mine is a shitbucket stick shift. I CAN get from A to B but it requires total focus the entire time because i am manually doing all the stuff the chip in your car does for you.

Face blindness is a benign example of this. That most people can tell the difference between two new faces based on minute differences is incredible, yet most people don't think about how much background processing it requires and think that theyre interperting raw visual data.
