I don’t think the outrage over the gay scene in Stranger Things is warranted, and I’m generally not a fan of making characters gay.
However, the actor is 21 and gay in real life. They didn’t make a kid gay to appease a certain demographic. They made an adult gay who is gay.
Also, the show never implied his gayness would defeat Vecna (as people are saying). The story was about Vecna learning his secrets (the key). He needed to not be afraid of *anything* to be able to help El defeat Vecna.
I don’t think there is any political agenda by the Duffer Brothers here.
Look, if this show ends with Will sleeping with Vecna in the Upside Down, I’ll retract.
