Unpopular opinion, but I’ve long thought that airdrops are a thing of the past. The amount of time people spend farming airdrops compared to what they actually receive has made the whole process cumbersome. Plus, there are better ways to reward people long-term than just giving them a lump-sum airdrop.

It's sad that you can't recommend airdrop farming to anyone anymore, you either get rugged by endless delays (Opensea), complete incompetence (MegaETH) or by outright cancellations (Abstract). It's a path to poverty unless you find something like Variational before the hype (you won't)

The only time airdrops were ever effective was when someone makes a product people actually use (because it's worth using) and they are rewarded without thinking it would ever happen. Beyond that, it's nasty

I agree with you. At Gary Club we reward at milestone unlocks across the entire community. Zero farming needed and fully transparent for every member to see.

100%. Airdrops are so negative ROI these days, there's no chance any project looking to grow, should be doing it these days. It attracts the wrong users, doesn't actually retain users, and draws needless fud.

Yes. Airdrops ideally should be going to actual users but it’s become a farm. Then your chain/project dies out because you didn’t have actual users

The biggest problem with airdrops is that they attract the lowest denominator of “community member“ whose only motivation to contribute stems from said AirDrop. And, as we know, once that AirDrop hits, those same community members are long gone. Nothing positive comes from it.

Airdropping culture lost it's value, it's the 9-5 of crypto when think of it. You just need to be on the higher paying launch or you'll be served dust and most times you never know the right high paying launch. - cape.

100% i feel a projects should start looking at ways to run better incentives to the community than rely on airdrop - not every product requires a token too (let's have this at the back of our mind)
