Been asked in many DMs now whether we're going to launch Gigaverse Online and/or other products, on Robinhood.
Yes.
Since it's launch, Robinhood has been the most interesting onchain ecosystem by far - for a number of reasons:
1. No points / XP equivalent.
Frankly its extremely hard to build an ecosystem (especially a chain, of which there are many) without a points or XP equivalent. But if you can, you must. Because it forges a higher quality userbase who are happy to trade, play, provide liquidity, etc, without subsidies. Very few chains can launch & grow without a points program (or signalling of an upcoming airdrop).
Robinhood can - but not only because they're Robinhood - but because they've positioned themselves well from the start, have run a v clean & simple GTM, and have avoided unforced errors that their peers haven't been able to.
2. No crime.
There isn't a shady desperado foundation propping up activity on Robinhood. They are not in cohoots with the market makers. They are not manufacturing "winners". They are not "pretending to be anon devs" on their own chain.
They are playing a good clean game and that means they're building something sustainable. The revenue is real and it hasn't been accomplished at a cost of deploying fake volume, buying coins, or w/e else you see happen with other chain foundations.
As a builder, that's incredibly appealing, because I don't need to worry what's real and what isn't, or when the music will stop.
3. ~30M customer accounts and $74 bn net deposits.
Robinhood is a consumer financial super app and home to almost thirty million funded customer accounts. It's where people keep their money and where they invest their money. Their entry onchain is one of the most direct & meaningful expand-the-pie opportunities we've seen in crypto in a long time. That's incredibly exciting - and the way this cycle is shaping up, the likelihood of more onchain assets and stories making their way infront of a historically offchain audience, will continue to grow.
There's more too, but this forms the core of why I like the chain and the moves they've made so far.
