Man Whose Party's Relevance Depends on Alberta Remaining in Canada Wants Alberta to Remain in Canada.
Stephen Harper: Separatism poses 'significant risk' for Alberta. 'Most voting for it will do so just to “send a message” … I believe that approach is mistaken,' writes the former prime minister of Canada nationalpost.com/opinion/ste…

Good afternoon Mr. Harper, I’ve been trying to capture the feelings of the average Albertan toward Ottawa and it’s been difficult to do so succinctly as the issues are many and not easily captured in three-word slogans. Nonetheless, I landed on these: 1. Inexcusably Betrayed After decades of significant net fiscal contributions, we watched the country turn its back on us in our time of need after the 2014 oil crash. They were prepared to sacrifice our economy and the wellbeing of Albertan families at the altar of progressive fanaticism. 2. Systemically Exploited Higher-than-average earnings are taxed at eye-watering rates and wasted on nonsensical social programs and foreign aid while the Canadian standard of living is on the decline. Ottawa’s spending priorities are completely out of whack and quite frankly, disrespectful to the hard work of Albertan tax payers. 3. Structurally Powerless Albertans’ concerns in areas of federal jurisdiction only matter if they align with the rest of the country’s conservative voters AND the conservatives get elected. That’s the unfortunate reality of 5 million Albertans competing electorally against 16 million Ontarians and 9 million Quebecers that share a largely common view and expectations of government. Now before the Pacific Link pipeline announcement gets brought up as proof that my statement doesn’t hold up to scrutiny, take into account how much we had to fight for crumbs. The dynamic is clearly unproductive and inefficient. We just wasted a decade arguing for common sense and begging for the bare minimum. As an economist, you understand the time-value of money and the impacts that a trillion dollars of missing investment have had on our standard of living. In late 2024, we collectively agreed we couldn’t afford another lost decade. And yet here we are having wasted another 2 years. So here’s my question for you. With: - No constitutionally-enforceable deficit spending limits, - No regional protections from Laurentian supremacy, and - Parliamentary conventions failing to protect us in the face of Ottawa’s Orwellian legislation and fiscal management, What concrete steps could be taken to ensure Alberta is insulated from Ottawa’s tyranny? I look forward to your reply. Respectfully, Jeff Berube @stephenharper

They were surprised to learn that there was no life saving equipment in the… EXECUTION ROOM
There was no medical oxygen or mask in the execution chamber where Tennessee tried and failed to kill convicted murderer Christa Pike, which meant staff had to go and get it when things went wrong, according to a source who witnessed what happened. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/-me…

These campaign promises from incumbents are ludicrous. "...back in your pocket where it belongs." If it belonged there the whole time, you're an asshole for not having done this already.
My plan cuts 10 cents a litre off the provincial gas tax and gives the BC Utilities Commission the power to stop big oil from gouging you at the pump, so up to 30 cents a litre ends up back in your pocket where it belongs. That's up to $100 a month for a family with two cars.

You're on an island with your abusive husband. The only boat off the island leaves in 2 weeks. He holds a press conference saying he'll stop drinking by 2032, get a job by 2039, and stop beating you sometime in the early 2040s, you just gotta trust him. Obviously, you get on that boat.
Take a bow, Alberta WE WON!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Every line of this is what we Albertans have been saying for years! Total repudiation of the Trudeau-Guilbault energy policy! “Global oil demand will remain in the tens of millions of barrels a day for decades to come. “So the question is: who will be the world’s trusted supplier of oil for years to come. It should be us. It must be Canada.” 🇨🇦 💪🏼

They didn't have time to invite vets to the 25 year memorial. Seriously. Presumably, the invitations would have taken at least 26 years to sort out.
.@VeteransENG_CA says it didn’t have time to invite Afghan War vets to speak at ceremonial groundbreaking for National Monument to Afghan War dead. 40-minute ceremony heard from non-combatants including Minister @JMcknightDelta. blacklocks.ca/no-time-for-co… @VetsOmbudsman #cdnpoli

Not to mention forcing poor families to buy multiple gaudy shirts is unnecessary.
Pink shirt day, orange shirt day, pyjama day, all of these as well as queer signalling are coercive and intrusive and amount to institutional bullying of families and kids by those holding institutional power.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM LET ALBERTA DECIDE September 30, 2026 The City of Calgary has acknowledged that City staff removed Let Alberta Decide referendum signs “in error” and has publicly stated that the signs were returned. They have not been returned. City officials working with our campaign have told us they do not know where the missing signs are. This is particularly concerning because our crews have documented locations where Let Alberta Decide signs were removed while nearby opposing campaign signs remained in place. We have also documented City signage being placed directly in front of our signs, obstructing them from public view. Let Alberta Decide is a registered referendum third-party advertiser operating during an official referendum campaign. The selective removal or obstruction of lawful campaign advertising by the City of Calgary raises serious concerns about improper interference in the referendum process. We are calling on the City of Calgary to immediately: •locate and return all of our missing signs; •explain why our signs were removed while opposing signs were left in place; and •ensure City staff and resources are not used to remove or obstruct lawful referendum advertising. If the signs are not promptly returned and this unlawful conduct does not stop, Let Alberta Decide is prepared to pursue the legal remedies available to protect our property and its right to participate lawfully in the referendum campaign. The City does not have to agree with our message. It does have an obligation to treat both sides of this referendum fairly and equally. Let Alberta Decide

LOL who wrote this? Naheed Nenshi: Called the Premier’s proposed west coast pipeline a “pipe dream. David Eggen: “No new approvals” for oilsands projects. Called the oilsands a “catastrophe.” Joe Ceci: Spoke of a “fossil-free future.” Lorne Dach: Said Alberta should lead the “transition away from fossil fuels.” Gurinder Brar: Said pipelines are “very dangerous.” Brooks Arcand-Paul: Opposed TMX. Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse: Opposed Coastal GasLink and supported anti-TMX protesters. David Shepherd: Said “part of the problem” in Alberta is that one of our biggest businesses is based in oil. Janis Irwin: Advocated for Extinction Rebellion in Alberta classrooms. Marie Renaud: Reacted to an “I Love Oil & Gas” shirt with a puke emoji. Quite the record.
Danielle Smith and the UCP stole from our energy plan. Back in March, we laid out a plan to get more Alberta energy to global markets, including a new pipeline to the West Coast using a southern route along the existing Trans Mountain corridor. Now, the UCP is pursuing the same route. But our plan goes further: optimize Trans Mountain to add more than 300,000 barrels a day of capacity, expand natural gas exports, open new export routes, grow Alberta’s critical minerals sector, and attract investment in clean energy, renewables and energy storage. We got the last pipeline built. We’re ready to help get the next one built. Learn more at : albertandp.ca/news/building-…
