Three years ago, I accidentally uploaded a four-second audio clip of myself sighing and saying "please just let me die" to the official corporate announcement channel on Slack. I thought I was searching for a file, but I somehow clicked the microphone icon. The worst part is that it was a Monday morning, and my boss, an incredibly earnest man named Greg, thought it was a genuine cry for help. I had an intern named Jose. By coincidence, the intern following him was also Jose. They overlapped by a week. So we started calling the second Jose HosB (pronounced Hose B). The first Jose (Hose A and now HosA in the writing) was noticeably happy. I asked why. He said his roommate was also a Jose. And that his roommate had gotten there first as he was a year older. Thus, at college, our HosA was called HosB by his friends. Thus, he was just happy that he got to be HosA this time around. This was in Indiana, so Jose was not exactly a common name. But Purdue did seem to have a crop of them that year.
