"The first word brigade and corps commanders use to describe the first few months of Drapatyi's tenure is 'freedom'. Unlike his predecessor, who would tell some brigade commanders how and where to fight – even specifying the coordinates where a position should be set up – Drapatyi has chosen a different approach. He has opted to decentralize command, moving away from the 'micromanagement' that has already become widely known to the public... Ukrainska Pravda sources say the move away from hands-on management of brigades and corps has brought another change: Drapatyi no longer spends several hours every day hearing reports from all commanders, as Syrskyi did. 'Syrskyi would hear reports from everyone every day and could give specific instructions on how to respond to developments, including where troops should advance… Drapatyi doesn't do that; that's the job of the troop grouping commanders. Drapatyi focuses on strategic and systemic issues. And when commanders do speak to the commander-in-chief, he isn't interested in a standard report on 'what happened', but in statistics, analysing problems and finding solutions – in other words, what conditions need to be created for a particular commander to accomplish their mission. And that's the right approach,' a senior military officer told Ukrainska Pravda." pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2026/…

The regime is engaging in blatant attempts of voter suppression.
Serbia’s Republican Electoral Commission has approved a bizzare proposal under which voting at polling stations abroad in the October 25 parliamentary elections would follow Serbia’s time zone - with polls opening at 7 a.m. Serbian time. 🥁

Over the month of September, the Russian net gains were negative 190 km2. This marks the greatest monthly net territorial loss for Russia in our dataset since the June of 2023. (1/12)

Russian strategic priorities could not be clearer.
Russia’s 2027 budget means a ~10% cut in real terms for development, infrastructure and healthcare with ~5% cut in education. mailchi.mp/thebell/russias-b…

So it is entirely possible that this triggers an escalating campaign against bridges on both sides. If this happens, I don't think it's necessary evidence of there being a deal, or deterrence before. These things sometimes take a life of their own. The Bakhmut effect.

I very much doubt that there was ever an understanding, spoken or unspoken, about not targeting bridges. It's a question of practicality, and the lack of long-range means which can reliably put bridges out of action. Neither side has actually shied away from attacking bridges.

Ukraine attacked the Crimean bridge. They made Antonov into Swiss cheese. Chonhar and Kursk. Russia has thrown tons of explosives at Zatoka. They dropped bridges over Oskil. And many others I can't think of immediately.

Ukraine operates its F-16 fleet intensively and under demanding conditions. We have always recognized that sustaining these aircraft would be challenging, particularly because certain components for this early F-16 variant are no longer in production and are becoming increasingly difficult to source. However, recent reports alleging catastrophically low aircraft availability rates and excessively long maintenance turnaround times are simply false. Contrary to these claims, our industrial sustainment partners are not only continuing to deliver overhauled aircraft, but are doing so at an increasing pace. Turnaround times are decreasing, not increasing. We have full confidence in our industry partners and their ability to further optimize sustainment processes, ensuring the highest possible levels of F-16 readiness and availability during the coming winter months, when these capabilities will be needed most. Such reports should not undermine confidence in the international funding that supports F-16 sustainment efforts or question the continued need for additional F-16 aircraft from partner nations' inventories. We should not allow misinformation to weaken this vital support. The modernization and sustainment of our F-16 fleet remain essential to Ukraine's ability to defend its airspace and protect its people.
