Take a Very Close Look at this photo. 🤔 There are some within that are responsible for the Connecticut we have today. I'm sure none of them intentionally wanted to see our state decline from its once great place of prominence in the USA.
I think some may have lacked objectivity, creativity and a unique vision of what Connecticut could be. For others, their priorities may have shifted to maintaining their own job, role or position and the comfort of gravitating towards the staus quo. Thus, leading to taxing, as opposed to innovating. Tolerating mediocrity in education for our inner cities. Trying to clone our state after Boston, NYC, etc. And finally, making decisions based on political ideology, as opposed to doing what's always in the best interest of "every resident" of this state.
For as Beautiful of a State CT is we should not have: Highest Debt per Capita, Highest Utility Costs, Losing High Net Worth Taxpayers, Declining Economic Growth, Rat infested inner cities, etc.
As I stated, I do not think any of you wanted to see CT in decline.
There's a theory in "Organizational Psychology" called the "Peter Principle". The theory states "Many People will excel in their jobs, until they reach their level of incompetence". So, the greatest danger is to be blinded by hubris and/or fall under lure of compliancy.
So, I ask everyone in this photo. Do not concentrate on your personal achievement, but instead ask yourself, "Have I made the lives of "every single person" in this state better?"
And lastly, I ask you to perform introspective... Know what you are truly capable of and be objective enough to take a step back when a role is beyond your capability. I state this from learnings from own past career. It served me well. Thank you for listening.
