"The worst President"... so far.
William Hague declares Trump the worst president of his lifetime, and struggles to see how anyone could have a different opinion.
“This mishandling of world affairs … is the most serious development and negative development in the world since the Second World War.“

"Can you imagine Churchill making Machiavellian deals with Russia regarding the fate of Eastern Europe?"
'Could you imagine Churchill doing a deal like this with Hitler?'
@ayeshahazarika begins #SundayMorning by reflecting on the diesel deal Donald Trump has made with Vladimir Putin this week.

Churchill, in all probability, would have met Russian demands on Eastern Europe in 1939... so yes.
But then again this "debate" just demonstrates the mythology of "Churchill" and "Hitler".

Seems like Ronald Lindsay's dispatches really are the last piece of the already mostly complete puzzle.
Lindsay delivered British proposals on the 29th March to the State Department. I wonder what was said in any conversation at that time.

In 1941 when German tanks failed to penetrate Soviet KV-1's the Germans famously gave up and were defeated.
Similarly in 1916, the Germans were famous for not developing any weaponry to counter British tanks.
Now we're suggesting that no one in 1939 Europe could innovate.

Lord Halifax pushed Neville Chamberlain into giving the guarantee to Poland, thereby causing WW2 in the first place.
Source: Literally any history book, even Conformist ones.
Episode 5 trillion of British public figures not knowing the real history.
I guess she was absent when they did German history at school. Lady Thornberry. The Lord Halifax de nos jours.

AI in 2026 is still funny.
AI: Germany caused and started WW2... [the usual story we've all heard]
Me: Here's some very strong evidence and logic to the contrary
AI: Damn, you're right! Ignore literally everything I said. Here's some more insight into how right you are!

Art of the deal. Are the EU stupid or something?
1. US starts war in Ukraine.
2. US tells EU to ban Russian energy.
3. US breaks all other energy supply chains.
4. US tells EU to buy energy at inflated price from US.
5. US gets that energy cheap from Russia to sell to EU at huge profit.
That's literally what has happened.

Interesting then that in September 1939 only 3 countries were "right" whilst every other country in the world was "wrong", including the United States.
“We knew Hitler was evil, and therefore had to be defeated. There must be some right and wrong in political decision making.”
This guy is insanely based. The Brits continue to show that they’re the only adults in the room. PICK A PRIME MINISTER FFS.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"
Yeah... that's the entire point of the debate.
It's why a not insignificant amount of Poles are not happy with @sikorskiradek boasting of easily defeating Russia and of Poland's allies swiftly coming to the rescue.
Letter from CdA a.i. @BogdanKlich calling on @TuckerCarlson to publicly retract his outrageous statements and apologize for insulting Poles, British citizens, and, ultimately, the memory of the victims of the Shoah and all those who died in the fight against Nazism.

That archive file of discussions with the Polish defence staff in 1939, was only declassified by the British Government in 1990.
Sixty years held from public view.
And people wonder why I keep finding things which "dont agree" with the books they read.
How do we find out what year this document was declassified?
It's interesting how literally no book I've read ever mentions this document, even 'revisionist' ones.

If only there was some history we can look at to see if "projecting strength (when not actually having any)" worked as a deterrent.
Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg explains how Britain, which has a combat ready military force about half the size of New York’s police department, must prepare for war with Russia.

For the past 20 years we had "Vote for the Conservatives because uh... otherwise it will be a Labour Government".
51% of the vote going to Reform, Tory, Restore yet Burnham’s far left Labour wins the election despite slumping. Welcome to the next general election unless voters see what’s happening and start consolidating around Reform ⬇️

Christ, is there a historian out there that doesn't throw a pansy when you ask for a source or point out other documents they may have missed? (thereby undermining their inherent right to 'respect' as given by having a published book)

Plenty of Poles are writing about British decision making in 1939. It's about time some Brit wrote about Polish decision making in 1939.

As Sun Tzu famously said: "If fighting is certain to result in defeat then you must fight!"
Wiosną 1939 doświadczony artylerzysta i "szef" polskiej artylerii gen.

Everyone else: Screeching that Russia helped Germany "start WW2".
Russia: Yep, and here's our strategic reasoning behind the decision.
I wonder why @FCDOGovUK can't be so honest about the decision to 'guarantee' Poland on 31 March 1939?

Community note
The USSR helped clear Hitler’s path to war. The M.–R. Pact secretly divided Poland between Nazi Germany and the USSR. Germany invaded on 1 Sept 1939; the Soviets attacked from the east on 17 Sept. Soviet oil, grain and raw materials then helped fuel Germany’s war effort.
