I'm gonna call it now. @raythewarchief is so right. AI game developers are the hottest thing right now. It's the perfect fusion between human and machine. It's not like "type a prompt and a game rolls out" very, VERY far from it. This discipline requires creativity, skill and above all: Grit. AI makes certain aspects of it easier but if you don't know what you're doing or you don't have good ideas you're not going to get anywhere. Ignore the haters. Seriously, screw them. It's one thing to create a quick one-shotted demo but real games people actually want to play? Blood, sweat and tears.

I kinda wish I had a @Meta Quest 3 now. I think "It Wants You To Stay" would be insanely good on it. @finkd should send me one.

I don’t understand why anyone would say this. First of all Three.js is absolutely fine for MANY applications, even if you’re going to package and sell it as an installable. Second, development is WAY more comfortable and quicker than when using a big engine like UE. Native is awesome but often an overkill. Especially for smaller game. Happy medium? @godotengine.

Turned my coastal demo into a cozy fishing game 🎣 dgreenheck.github.io/tidewat… Catch fish, sell them to Joe and buy new tackle and parts for your boat from Marta by the boathouse! Did a lot of additional iteration on the environments, plants, models and graphics, adding in more wear and tear to make it look more realistic. Ran an optimization pass which improved performance from 60FPS to 100FPS, but I chewed up most of that adding in new features. It's also now using native WebGPU to give the AI more control. I thought maybe it would struggle with this since Three.js code is likely much more common in training data, but it never missed a beat. Anyways, this is my last update on this project. Wanted to see how far I could take Opus 5.5. Didn't really find the limits to be honest.
