.@AMWIK successfully hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM)-2026. Bringing together veteran journalists, emerging media professionals, and digital content creators. This year’s hybrid AGM was a powerful testament to resilience and adaptability as we reflected on our triumphs, current challenges, and the co-creation of the Association's future. As the meeting wrapped up, the message was clear: the success of AMWIK relies entirely on the collective energy of its members. With new resolutions passed and a renewed sense of purpose, the association is ready to tackle the upcoming year with fresh vigor. Thank you, members, for making the AGM a resounding success! #IamAMWIK

Our research on Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (#TFGBV) shows that 42% of female journalists have faced targeted cyber harassment that escalates to physical threats, and nearly 1 in 5 women pushed off social media entirely. Far from random trolling, these coordinated attacks are explicitly designed to silence female voices in newsrooms, politics, and public life. Dismantling online hate cannot happen in silos. Stakeholders including tech platforms, policymakers, media houses, and civil society actors have to join forces. If you are ready to unite, innovate, and build safer, accountable digital spaces for women, reach out and partner with @AMWIK today at info@amwik.org. #SafeSpacesKE @WomenAtWebEA @dw_akademie @RealAWiM @WomenAtWebTZ_MC @FemnetProg @awdf01 @UAFAfrica @KICTANet @Ddadapodcast @QueenterMbori @museka123

An evaluation report by @AMWIK in partnership with @FNF_Kenya reveals that 15 years after the 2010 Constitution, Kenya still falls short of the two-thirds gender principle, with women holding only 23.9% of parliamentary seats. The report also provides recommendations inorder to achieve full realization of the constitutional mandate. Leadership influences content, and content shapes public discourse. In response to editorial updates at @NationMediaGrp, @AMWIK notes that those changes reflect a persistent gap that women occupy under 4% of Managing Editor roles despite contributing 40% of Kenya’s media workforce. Why are women disappearing from Kenya’s media landscape right when they reach their peak? @AMWIK answered that question in the Status of Women in Media Report 2026, which revealed a stark "leaky pipeline" where women enter the industry in crowds but are steadily pushed out by systemic barriers. The full Status of Women in Media Report can be accessed directly on the resources section of the official AMWIK website amwik.org. #IamAMWIK
