Your neighbors are awesome grandparents by the sound of this, and yet you see it as them not raising their son right because they watch their grandkids until heās done with work?!? So youād rather see grandkids in the care of a stranger than have grandparents present who guide their growth? This increases the likelihood theyāre indoctrinated by some weirdo you donāt know. Also, yeah you might miss some lunches with "friends" but friends will never be even slightly as important as grandchildren.
Now with the 2nd case, I imagine "they have them for the summer" means the grandkids are over while the parents work. I wish the Mom didnāt have to work and they could stay home with her but the next best option is the kids staying with grandparents until work is over. My wife and I will gladly do this for our kids if they have to work. Iād rather be the one seeding their mind with good values than trust a daycare center to do it.
This is so biologically wired into me that it makes me feel like Iām a different species when I read some of these responses. Iād crawl through broken glass for my kids and grandkids to have the best outcomes. Some brunch with friends is meaningless to me in comparison. Families were meant to be tribes and I will run my family like one. Until Iām dead, Iām the patriarch and I will do everything I can to guide them, lead them, help them, protect them and teach them. I can brunch when Iām in heaven. Here on earth my duty is to them.
I have a retired neighbor that watch their grandkids (2 boys) every day after school from about 2 to 6pm. And, I have seen the kids over there on weekends too. WTF? Not sure about the summer, as this just started this school year. Those parents raised their son, but evidentially they didn't raise him to budget for after school care for his 2 kids. I also have a retired friend that we can NEVER meet for lunch (always has to be supper), because she picks her grand son up every day from school and watches him until 5 pm, then all day every day in the summer. I think this is extremely rude to parents that have already raised their kids, but they didn't raise them to arrange for day care after school and all summer long. Fortunately my son lives 60 miles away and I will only watch his kids during an emergency. I watched his 2 boys last year while him and his wife were at the hospital learning how to take care of their baby that has spina bifida. I also watched them a couple years ago when they wanted to go to an anniversary dinner just the 2 of them.
