Democratic & Working Families Party Candidate for NY Assembly in District 149. Capitalism is incompatible with a sustainable future.

Buffalo, NY
In the time it takes you to read this tweet from start to finish, Jeff Bezos will make more money than you do in an entire year. Have a nice day.

For all you WNYers into politics: we are squarely in the debate season (less than a month until Election Day!), so tune in tonight to see Aaron Gies take down Nick Langworthy, and then on Thursday for Tish James against Saritha Komatireddy. We need them BOTH to win their races.

Not only is good housing being taken off the market, so many of these landlords are not even following City laws. Unacceptable.
New: Since 2019, Buffalo has attempted to regulate short-term rentals, such as those on Airbnb. After two moratoriums by the Common Council, the city still struggles to identify & enforce those regulations against unlicensed owners. Read more: investigativepost.org/2026/1…

Tax the rich. Tax the corporations. Ensure all people can live with dignity because they know they will have the essentials — healthcare, housing, education — whether their job is replaced by AI or not. There is no other option.
Wages are at all-time lows, and profits at historic highs, as a percent of GDP. The backlash against A.I. is a backlash against unchecked inequality. My @nytopinion Chart:

The image is misleading for 2 reasons: - it commits a “chart crime” by using two different Y-axis. x.com/ramez/status/2… - Compensation has shifted from wages to benefits, which is hidden from this chart; workers get ~19% of compensation via benefits now, vs as low as 2% historically. taxfoundation.org/blog/strong-ca…

Tonight's WNY Peace Center dinner was fantastic - after years of Victoria Ross at the helm, they remain in good hands under the new leadership of Stephanie Mejia!

Strikes me that as much time as I’ve spent around the Aud Club over the years, I never bought anything there because it was so crowded. I’m guessing the reason they turned it into an airport ass looking bar is so more people roll through, spend $ and move on.

On this and future issues, I hope that the Seneca Nation and the City of Buffalo can collaborate on projects that both support the Seneca people and enrich the public good. In any case, I will remain full-throated in my support for Indigenous peoples, today and always. (2/2)

I support the sovereignty of the First Nations. The land currently in dispute is historically sovereign Seneca land. It was also re-designated as such federally when bought by the Seneca Nation. Their right to develop it as they see fit must be honored. (1/2)

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

Disgusting use of our state and local resources. The cops knew exactly what they were doing: helping CBP kidnap immigrant New Yorkers. If this somehow doesn't violate Dignity Not Detention (which it seems to), then it's another reason we need to pass New York for All.
Around 30 protesters gathered in the near the home. Several yelled at the agents. The standoff is near an Oswego city elementary school. syracuse.com/news/2026/09/fe…

In New York, we won the #FightFor15. But that is not the end, so what's next? #StriveFor25? Count me in.
New: New York's minimum wage won't increase in January for the first time since it was first tied to inflation in 2024 due to an off-ramp in state law. But Hochul is proposing a change to that law that would allow it to go up next year anyway: timesunion.com/capitol/artic…

The most horrific, yet foreseeable result. We cannot allow this mass surveillance to continue to expand in our communities.

As a Poughkeepsie Councilmember I see how climate change hurts our city. We depend on the Hudson River for drinking water, but extreme rain causes flooding and stormwater runoff creates contamination. NY must build 15 GW of publicly owned renewable energy to fight climate change!

This is horrific. Phone-app sports gambling isn't just undermining the sanctity of sports - though, that's obviously bad enough - it's also ruining countless lives.
NEW: I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company’s “responsible gaming” safeguards. Spoiler Alert: They invited me into the VIP program after just one week. Here’s how I yeeted $20K+ ripping riskier and risker bets 🧵
