the group leader can do is offer modern “self-acceptance” therapeutic cliches in response which Jesse recognizes as utterly empty and useless. A scene straight out of a Dostoevsky novel. Jesse’s whole arc towards the end of the show is basically Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment. Brilliant stuff.
