Al Mezan’s collation of facts makes apparent Israel’s organized approach to the destruction of cultural heritage across Gaza. In some cases, Israeli forces completed the destruction, initially carried out by air bombardment, by bulldozing & levelling the site & burying the ruins.

Available documentation indicates almost three quarters of all cultural & historical sites in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed by Israel since Oct 2023. These include historic residences, archaeological sites, museums, libraries and historic educational institutions.
