It was a great pleasure to rise in the House to pay tribute to Dr. Arsalan Mohajer for a lifetime of distinguished achievement, exemplary leadership, and enduring service. Was honoured to participate at a ceremony this past weekend dedicated to recognizing his contributions as a scientist, educator, civic leader, and philanthropist.

It was a great pleasure to attend the launch of the new Korean Adult Day Program in Willowdale by North York Seniors Centre and LOVE Toronto. This program is designed to support Korean-speaking seniors in accessing essential programs and services while creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.

September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, first and still known as Orange Shirt Day. This is a day of somber reflection and commemoration honouring the Survivors of the residential school system, the children who never returned home, along with their families and communities. This day also reminds us that “Every Child Matters”.

One project. One decision. One year.   Through the Building Canada Strong Act, we are proposing a new approach to federal approvals for all projects.   Instead of multiple reviews and decisions which can take up to five years, consultations would be coordinated into one process, with a single federal decision made within one year.   That means project construction can begin faster, creating jobs and strengthening Canada’s economy.

Came home from synagogue on Yom Kippur to see the horrific and despicable news about the shooting at Sons of Jacob synagogue in Belleville. One police officer was shot and our hearts are with him as we pray for a speedy recovery. We all stand with the devastated community.

On September 20, at sunset, Jewish communities across Canada and around the world will begin observing Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement and the holiest day of the Jewish year. It is also a period devoted to reflection, repentance, and making amends with others. To all those observing Yom Kippur, G'mar Chatima Tova.

A new chapter for the EU-Canada partnership 🇪🇺🇨🇦 Ahead of @CanadianPM @MarkJCarney's address to @Europarl_EN this Thursday, I am delighted that tonight, the European Parliament's Bureau has endorsed the establishment of an EP antenna office in Ottawa. A stronger presence that facilitates parliamentary exchanges across the Atlantic, with a regional remit reaching as far as the Arctic. Europe and Canada: old friends, still writing the next page together.

To mark the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, I joined parliamentary colleagues in Detroit to honour the victims and remember the survivors and first responders. Following that dark day, Canadians were united in their resolve to do all we could to assist our American friends and neighbours.

Attended the Midwestern Legislative Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota, to engage legislators from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. I underscored our commitment to constructive dialogue and echoed our lead negotiator’s recent pronouncement that our “pens are down, but the door is open.”
