The difference between the valuation of sponsorship deals made by consultancy Octagon to UEFA and the amount actually paid, as shown in the club's financial report, amounted to a combined ~£65m (€76m) from the 4 Gulf companies. This allowed the purchase of Fernandinho, Jovetic and Demichelis in the 2013/14 season for €70.5m.
