ποΈMandarin Oriental Hotel and Residences: Miami
Construction has begun on Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Residences.
Swire Properties has recently shared that DSM, or deep soil mixing, has begun on-site. DSM is a technique used to strengthen existing soil conditions in preparation of foundation work.
A groundbreaking event is scheduled for October, and completion is expected in 2030.
The development will rise 66 floors/850 feet and 33 floors/426 feet respectively.
The entire project has 294 units and 149 hotel rooms.

The Herlad Office Building was torn down, replaced by massive concrete slabs and new utility grids to support profitable events like the Boat Show and Art Basel. If the site is "developed" enough to support commercial infrastructure, why is it not "developed" enough to trigger the #Baywalk?
It is peak irony that Dan Paul,, who defended the Heraldβs rights at the Supreme Court in Tornillo and represented the paper for 30 years, now has his legacy of public waterfront access stalled on the very ground where the Herald once stood.

Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key will be imploded on April 12, per notice sent to residents. An exclusion zone of about 800 ft from the structure will be implemented. Residents in that zone are advised to keep their windows closed.
To minimize the spread of dust, several shipping containers will be stacked around the property. Dust cleanup will take 2-3 hours while debris removal will take 3-4 months via trucks over the Brickell Key bridge. The option of using barges was explored but environmental regulations wouldnβt allow it.
CDI & BG Group will handle the implosion. Their portfolio includes the Deauville and the old hospital building on 600 Alton Road.
After cleanup, The Residences at Mandarin Oriental will be constructed to open in 2030 as two towers consisting of hotel and condos
