America’s critical supply chain won’t be fixed by a single player. It was great to welcome @RepTedLieu to HQ last week and show him how we're rebuilding America's engineering capacity. He got a first-hand look at how we design, prototype, and test critical parts in-house to meet the demands of our defense industrial base.

Some say designing critical parts is a dark art. We just call it good engineering.

It's a miracle America designed its original jets, missiles, and ships by hand. Much of that engineering expertise hasn't been written down and lives in the supply chain.   We're creating a new way to engineer anything for these systems, trained on disappearing tribal knowledge.

Thousands of pressure switches go into our country's aircraft. Not having even one switch puts the entire mission at risk.    When a customer needed a new pressure switch re-designed on an urgent timeline, our engineer Kurt took on the challenge. He developed, built and tested it in under a month.

For the past 250 years, our country has given us permission to dream and the requisite resources to build. This is what put us on the moon, launched the internet, laid the transcontinental railroad, built the 747, and won two world wars. It’s what makes America exceptional.  It is our singular focus at Amca to make sure we can continue to dream and produce for the next 250 years, and well beyond. Happy Birthday, America.

Hiring non-stop @AmcaInc...... "SpaceX is an inspiring place. I told myself that if I was ever going to leave, it would be to join something I found even more inspiring than getting to Mars. I joined Amca because the worst supply chain crises I tackled at SpaceX all followed the same pattern: Sole-sourced. Vendor IP. Backlogged. 52 weeks. Price hikes. A staggering number of components need to come together to build a vehicle, and all it takes is one critically-constrained part to cripple a multi-billion dollar production line and get a meeting with executive leadership put on your calendar. This is a stark reality, and nowhere is it worse than in aerospace and defense, where rigorous qualification processes and tight control of technical information, both of which are necessary to keep us safe, create a moat between legacy suppliers and challengers. This moat discourages innovation, invites greed, and poses an existential threat to aircraft and rocket manufacturers, but it doesn't need to be this way. Amca is expanding competition and capacity for the critically-constrained components that multi-billion dollar production lines rely on, and I am now part of that mission."
