To say something so disrespectful about Senator Simons makes me think you’ve never actually met her @McAllisterBruce. This is a person who would occasionally be critical of me, but there is never any doubt that she wants what is best for Edmontonians, Albertans, and Canadians.
In 2013, columnist Paula Simons asked why Canada bothers with “an unelected upper house, full of entitled toffs who can’t be turfed.”
In 2026, Senator Paula Simons - unelected, Trudeau-appointed, paid nearly $200k a year by taxpayers until 2039 - calls it “truly vile” when Albertans put that same question on a ballot.
I guess appointment is a hell of a conversion experience. I think Charles Adler had the same conversion.
What’s actually vile is that she sits in that high chamber pretending to speak for Alberta. It is a joke to think Paula Simons represents the culture and can-do attitude of this province. The great majority of Albertans would never - that’s right, never - vote for her or her grifting pal Kris Wells to represent them anywhere. #ableg #cdnpoli

This alert is in effect for the entire City of Edmonton.
Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has pushed the region's stormwater system to capacity, with localized flooding and backups being reported in neighbouring communities. If the stormwater system continues to operate over-capacity, flooding and sewer backups will continue to increase.
