🚨LAWSUIT FILED🚨 X Strategies has filed a lawsuit against its former Chairman and CFO Derek Utley and others. The lawsuit filed by the company co-founded by Alex Bruesewitz, accuses Utley embezzled at least $5 million from 2021 through 2026. It says he did this through exclusive control of the firm’s bank accounts and books. The political consulting firm says Utley was fired after the new President Michael Seifert uncovered all of this. The lawsuit claims Utley admitted stealing millions and relinquished ownership. Utley is facing additional accusations sabotaging client relationships, trying to divert payments to himself, and began competing via a former client. The lawsuit is looking to recover the stolen funds. They are also asserting federal RICO claims plus state-law claims for breach of fiduciary duty, civil theft, fraud, conversion, unjust enrichment, and related theories. X Strategies, LLC is also naming Utley's his company Stark Defense Industries, his then-girlfriend Anna Weisheimer, and Dicenzo Fitness LLC as defendants in the lawsuit.

After reviewing the matter closely, I reached out directly to the official, @maximlott, to apologize. The story did not meet our standards for publication. We did not do the work necessary to verify whether the statements presented in the story were accurate or complete. Additionally, we do not believe the central claim, that people below the President influence decision making, was, standing alone, sufficiently newsworthy or in the public interest to justify secretly recording the official. Every serious news organization has a responsibility to distinguish between public interest reporting and gossip or voyeurism. In this instance, we fell short. I regret the publication and I am taking steps internally to ensure this does not happen again.
