Hard for women to retain the protection of single-sex services, but not so hard when it comes to mercy-killings. Please share @WomensRightsNet @ThePosieParker @SexMattersOrg @Docstockk @HJoyceGender @VictoriaPeckham @bindelj @polblonde

When Canada legalised assisted death, feminist organisations stayed silent. Not here. Our research showed mercy killings were in fact violent domestic homicides of women by men: not the siren call for assisted deaths. theotherhalf.uk/safeguarding…

Women mark the day.
I will never forget hearing from some of the first responders who came to speak in Parliament. Chilling reports of the unbelievable evil carried out, especially to women's bodies, and the compassionate care taken by those tasked with identifying victims. MPs always have mutiple conflicting committments, but my friend @KemiBadenoch and I stayed for the whole event. Incredibly difficult but necessary. #7October.

Remembering.
Today is the seventh of October. A day when innocent men, women and children were murdered. Families were destroyed. Young people were slaughtered. People were dragged from their homes and taken. As an Englishman, I believe in freedom of speech, the right to protest and the right to disagree. But freedom also demands conscience. There are 365 days in the year. Why choose this one? Why march on the anniversary of a massacre, while Jewish families remember their dead? We should not be frightened to say: this is wrong. We will oppose the glorification of terrorism and we will never accept the argument that the murder of Jewish men, women or children somehow matters less because of politics. It is decency against hatred. October the seventh should be a day to remember the dead and never a day to celebrate their killers.

Hope.
That 'hope' thing that Burnham promised. Does it apply to women living in terror now their abusers have been released early?

On the lethal drugs used to kill patients and prisoners.
I wrote about the uncertainties surrounding assisted dying (and lethal injection) drugs that still exist to this day. Some research desperately needed that will test ethics committees to the limit. archive.is/SSk7k and spectator.com/article/the-un…

You know what fuels anti-Canada sentiment? Euthanizing over 75000 people. We used the barbarism of the Canadian policy of killing your disabled and poor to defeat the British bill. So thanks, I guess. #assistedsuicide #euthanasia

Note that when this story was an issue in 2023, the "MAiD pamphlet" was not included; it was added to this interview in 2026. Adding such unsupported claims only deepens the rift between two of the world's closest allies and fuels anti-Canada sentiment.

Quote.. It is common sense that ingesting poison with intent to die is suicide, no matter how much money is spent rebranding it as ‘assisted dying’. It is common sense to see that those with Down syndrome can be easily manipulated into assisted suicide if it is legal. It is common sense that killing is not medicine. spiked-online.com/2026/09/21…

‘Keir wants it’..

Before third reading I was talking to a Labour MP. I asked why they thought the strong warnings from professional organisations were being ignored. The answer, with a small shrug, was ‘Keir wants it’.

Brilliant analysis of why the AD bill failed from @soniasodha
A very helpful read for all #MPs to reflect on before they return to @HouseofCommons It would be interesting @amcarmichaelMP to hear you views in your weekly newsletter given you supported the bill? soniasodha.substack.com/p/wh…

Least safe bill in the world.
This was a shocking bill - madly pursued and crazily exclusive made for very rich women whose ownership disdained the poor, the needy and the illiterate

Going to throw my 2 cents regarding former MOD sites such as piddington and crow-borough etc. when I was in the military and was stationed at Grantham barracks, we were specifically told we we were not allowed to go into the nearby towns and villages as to not upset the locals as they didn’t want to see big groups of mainly men descending on the town. The locals would not have even thought about the MOD/ military site nearby as they would have seen no one from the site in their area However these immigrant men are allowed to come and go as they please. So our own trained military were not allowed to go into the local towns and villages but undocumented sub Saharan African and Middle Eastern men are free to do this. Make it make sense.

Reasons Leadbeater has ignored.
A quick question - did you agree with the bill’s sponsors that these were legitimate reasons for the state to give someone an assisted death?
