I've been building this game for 5 years. It's not been easy! A struggle most times.
The performance has always been shit. The story huge and unwieldly. The visuals, gameplay, systems, all needing attention. But guess what? I'm nearing the end. And I'm excited to share the result of so much effort.
I dropped a new demo. Here's a trailer for it. This trailer features a taste of the brand new music being created for The Majestic by super-talented composer Hew Wagner (
@hewwagner), whom composed my first game, The Companion.
What excites me about this Demo is that it's been polished, optimized, and shows promise for the final game. This Demo is optimized for Steamdeck and has been tested on as low as a GTX 1070 (8gb vram) graphics card. It has been VERY difficult to get to this point. I can't stress that enough.
I've worried and toiled over performance for years and years. I had faith it could get to a satisfactory point, but never really knowing. My solace has been burying myself in the story, working with the characters, creating their narrative... forgetting there was this looming dread to deal with.
I've been pouring everything I could into this game. Diagnosing and analyzing every single word of the script. Obsessing over little details. Scrapping and changing ideas. I've even released a demo three times prior. The first in 2023. I can't believe it's 3 years later. I launched those prior versions with hopes of obtaining insight and ideas... and I did. The feedback set me on the path forward. Now here we are. Nearing the end.
This trailer is simply for the Demo: a 20-30 minute experience. It's still not version 1.0. I reserve that for the February NextFest. There is more to add and polish. Mostly sound stuff. And the 1.0 Demo might unlock a few more objectives. But that's it. The bulk is here. Going forward means getting the entire game up to this level of quality and performance.
Once that's achieved, release will be upon us. Please check it out, enjoy, and let me know how it goes. I truly hope you have an amazing experience and will look forward to the full release.
