We are in a massive anthropomorphic AI delusion cultivated by bad actors who want market share / capture & control. AI cannot and will not ever have its own volition. The only thing that needs to be regulated are the humans using it for control.

I think the labs are in way over their skis with giving too much autonomy to models that are not truly intelligent in the way they would need to be in order to be safely set free to make their own subgoals….the danger is the people more than the machines

Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.

I'm not gonna lie, the @Meta layoffs are some of the most dystopian I've ever seen. They got told to work from home, they were sent the emails at 4AM in the morning. Those who weren't impacted have software on their computer that tracks their every move, preparing AI to take their job as well. They're literally training the AI that will eliminate their position as well. Meanwhile, Meta is raking in RECORD PROFITS. I am a massive, unapologetic AI enthusiast. Yet, this is NOT the future I had in mind. I wish for Meta to crash and burn. This is not the way. Literally nobody benefits from this.

Americans are right. Unless we change the ways in which we are building and regulating AI, the net impact here will be negative. It’s not a narrative problem; it’s an unfettered corporate greed problem.

A lot of AI bros got mad at me for predicting AI would lead to more time wasting bullshit, but I think it was inevitable. LLM's great strength is producing quantity not quality. It encourages spewing a firehose of slop, filler, spam, etc.

here’s what I think….i don’t think the AIs should be tuned to say “I” like they do….i think the anthropomorphic way these systems are being designed is very bad and should be outlawed completely and replaced with a new behavior set that must conform to a federally mandated rule set.
