A new poll:
79% of Ukrainians living in Ukraine believe that Ukraine will win the war (47% firmly believe this, while 32% are inclined to think so). Only 7% believe Russia will win. Another 14% did not give a definite answer. Since the summer, the share of those firmly convinced that Ukraine will win has declined somewhat, while the share of those who lean toward believing that Ukraine will win, but are not firmly convinced, has increased.
At the same time, 41% believe the most likely scenario for the end of the war is that Ukraine will preserve its statehood and independence but suffer territorial losses (in effect, a freeze along the current front line, without recognizing the occupied territories as part of Russia).
Meanwhile, 53% believe that Ukraine will, to one degree or another, be able to end the war by liberating all or some of the territories occupied by Russia: 14% believe Ukraine will restore the status quo that existed before February 24, 2022; 4% believe Ukraine will liberate Donetsk and Luhansk; 23% believe it will liberate all occupied territories, including Crimea; and 12% believe it will liberate all occupied territories and carry the fighting onto Russian territory.
75% consider negotiations with Russia to end the war acceptable, while 21% consider them unacceptable.
At the same time, 69% would support an immediate, complete, mutual ceasefire along the current front line, while refusing to recognize the occupied territories as part of Russia, continuing to strengthen the military, and continuing Ukraineโs path toward the EU and NATO. 22% would oppose such an arrangement.
62% also said they are prepared to endure the hardships of war for as long as necessary. 23% said they could endure them for several more months to six months, and 4% for another year. And despite the massive aerial terror campaign against the city, 72% of Kyiv residents likewise said they are prepared to endure for as long as necessary.
