Why do the Hindutva types never account for the sabotage done to India due to the Cold War? India's growth trajectory vis a vis China diverged off in the early 2000s. This is because the 90s were a lost decade for us. Chinese wealth creation really only began in the early 2000s while they did the hardwork building the foundation of their industry in the decade prior. India had been building the foundation of it's industry since the 1950s and if the 90s weren't a lost decade for us we would be in the same league as China if not very close. Now what happened in the 90s? India was mutilated by separatist movements due to it being on the losing side of the Cold War. Rajiv Gandhi, one of India's most dynamic Prime Minister's was assassinated in 1991. The Congress was weakened by the Mandal-Kamandal movements, both of which had links to corporate interests that can clearly be defined as West aligned ie not believing in traditional Indian policy. Both movements also ravaged the primary population center of India ie the Gangetic basin causing intense political instability and a break in development. China overtook India in GDP only in 1985. We were the larger economy till then with far greater industrialisation and significant indigenous technological development due to.the efforts of Prime Ministers like Pandit Nehru and Indira Gandhi. However, the period from 1975 to 1980 was again lost because of political instability following the West backed Janata government (composed of the same elements that later went on to do Mandal-Kamandal). Meanwhile Deng started his reforms only in 1978. Militarily too India defeated China in 1987 in the Sumdorong Cho standoff and threatened Pakistan's existence with Operation Brasstacks. Just like in Panditji era India also militarily intervened in nations in Africa and Asia. Imagine an India without Mandal-Kamandal sabotage. Imagine an India without Janata Party sabotage. Imagine an India where Indira and Rajiv were not assassinated. Hindutva types can't because they're part of the same sabotage of India still underway since 2010.
