California
Exactly.
Yann’s comment on the Roadster reminded me of another Stanford professor I interacted with years ago. Highly positioned and theoretically brilliant, they can’t turn numbers into coordinated atoms. Their manufacturing knowledge came from The Economist. Factory visits involved VIP treatment with executives as workers buzzed around. They don’t grasp how atoms move in production or the ingenuity of turning equations into reality through choreographed coordination. The most impressive manufacturing engineers I’ve worked with weren’t Ivy League graduates, yet they create things that catch your heart. They turn theoretical math into reality—the real magicians. A month at Tesla taught me more than the most prestigious school could.

In communist Cuba, the sign over the labor camp gate read: "Work will make you men." The slogan was inspired by the Nazis sign at Auschwitz: "Work sets you free." Starting in 1965, Fidel Castro's communist government rounded up tens of thousands of Cubans it considered unfit for the revolution and sent them to forced labor camps called the UMAP. Gay men. Catholic priests and Protestant ministers. Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh-day Adventists. Hippies, dissidents, and anyone judged "anti-social" or "counterrevolutionary." Their crime was being the wrong kind of person. The camps were meant to "re-educate" them into the revolution's vision of the New Man. Inside, they cut sugarcane for endless hours under armed guard and with little food. Prisoners were beaten, tortured and raped. By one former state agent's account, of roughly 35,000 who passed through, hundreds were driven into psychiatric wards, dozens died under torture, and well over a hundred killed themselves. The camps ran until 1968. Decades later, an old Fidel Castro finally admitted the truth about them: "They were moments of great injustice," he said. "Great injustice."

I don't know if you realize what just happened. Elon Musk is completely bypassing the State. For 100 years, we've been told the problem is capital. That it must be captured, taxed, redistributed. With an army of intermediaries standing between those who create wealth and the people: ministries, agencies, commissions, bureaucrats. Musk is doing the opposite. He's taking his capital and giving it directly to the people. One SpaceX share to every kid in America. Not a handout. Not a subsidy. A piece of the machine that's taking humanity to Mars. And he says it himself: this is the first of many. Mises understood this back in 1944: the bureaucrat creates nothing. He administers what others created, following rules that have no connection to the value produced. The day value flows directly from the one who creates it to the one who receives it, the bureaucrat has no function left. That's what's being born right now. A new liberal world order, where the very concept of the State will make less and less sense. The world we're entering is a world of abundance. AI, robots, energy, space. And that abundance won't come through the State, for one simple reason: we have a century of proof that it doesn't work. Redistribution was version 1.0. Direct distribution of capital is 2.0. While France is still debating how to tax builders even more, America is handing stock to its kids. Pick your side.
Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.

Let's draw some unwanted attention to left-wing groups that are destroying the US trying to remake the GOP in their image. @JDVance @elonmusk @StephenM @SecScottBessent @SecRubio The funding schemes could be very interesting.
🚨 NEW: Inside the Neocons’ Secret Plan to Take the Republican Party Back. A Republican organizing network backed by liberal foundation money held private meetings where participants discussed how to “retake the local party apparatus.” A former Soros foundation grantmaker helped advise the effort. The target was local Republican organizations. Their own report records one participant’s assessment that parties were: “strong enough to still matter, but weak enough to be taken over.” Participants in Kansas and Kentucky had already begun developing plans to rebuild local parties. Johns Hopkins’ SNF Agora Institute and the R Street Institute organized the meetings: private dinners followed by full-day, off-the-record sessions. Rules prevented participants’ statements from being attributed to them individually. Johns Hopkins named Brad Raffensperger among the project’s architects. The funding includes: • $1.85 MILLION from Hewlett for the Civic Right project. • $500,000 from Carnegie for the Conservative Agenda for Democracy program. These foundations’ support for conservative organizing fits a broader shift by liberal donors toward funding groups on the right. The Soros connection: adviser Mark de la Iglesia previously awarded grants at George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. He also served in the Obama administration. Freedom House confirms his advisory role in this specific initiative. By 2026, organizers reported Signal networks connecting statewide election officials and staff. Their next steps included state-by-state strategies and recruiting and preparing future candidates and public officials. The same report explains that participants feared publicly confronting the administration could cost them seats and credibility. Its wording: “The challenge is to take effective action while not drawing unwanted attention.”

It sounds like a conspiracy theory, but "California gas is expensive because of a failed high-speed rail project" is 100% real. Almost half of ALL GAS TAXES go to funding the high speed rail project that hasn't delivered a single functional piece of rail in the last 11 years.
Great explanation of why California gas prices are higher than in other states, in the @sfchronicle of all places. 26¢/gallon goes to "cap-and-invest" which funds high-speed rail. sfchronicle.com/california/a…

The problem is that their definition of "public good" is helping everyone else, not the American public. If they would commit to helping America and Americans, that would be one thing, but this reeks of USAID 2.0, just another way to funnel billions out of our own economy.

Avoiding taxes to fund leftist politics worldwide isn't "the public good"
Between this and our prior commitments, roughly 20% of all Anthropic equity will be dedicated to the public good, and that commitment can grow as Anthropic grows. We plan to use these funds to ensure more people can share in the benefits of AI, and to increase our ability to provide funding to deal with its risks.

California AG peddles more disinformation. We provided records of the 20k+ noncitizens suspected of receiving a ballot and explained our process. They refused to even look at the data. We’ve repeatedly asked them to work with us to remove noncitizens from their rolls. Again, they refused. It’s California that refuses to act in good faith to protect American voters.
California AG Rob Bonta noted Nevada proved the Trump admin wrong on claims of non-citizens on that state's voter rolls. I asked him, why not check claims against California and prove them wrong? He was clear, state leaders don't think the federal govt is acting in good faith:

Anagnorisis (Ancient Greek literature) A term originating in Aristotle's analysis of Greek tragedy. It describes the moment of recognition or revelation when a person suddenly understands a fundamental truth about themselves, their actions or their circumstances. Often, that realisation comes when it's already too late to undo the damage.

🚨 THIS IS HOW YOU MISLEAD PEOPLE WITH ACCURATE STATISTICS. The Hoover Institution compares H-1B workers with the ENTIRE American workforce. 58% of H-1B workers have graduate degrees versus 14% of native-born Americans. Impressive. Until you examine the comparison. H-1B is designed for degree-intensive occupations. Why compare those workers with Americans in jobs that don’t even require a degree? Compare them with QUALIFIED AMERICANS competing for the same positions. And look at what Hoover’s own research reveals: • 70% studied computing or engineering. • 64% work in professional, scientific and technical services. • 71% of advanced-degree H-1B approvals involved people already here on F-1 student visas. Yet we’re supposed to believe graduate degrees alone demonstrate a talent shortage? Where’s the evidence that qualified Americans weren’t available? A prestigious institution should know the difference between measuring credentials and proving a labor shortage.
H-1B is the visa US employers use to hire skilled workers from abroad. Workers approved in the FY2021–24 lotteries were far more credentialed than the US workforce overall: 58 percent held a master's degree or higher, compared with 14 percent of US native-born and 15 percent of total foreign-born in the US. Most earned those degrees here — 71 percent of master's-and-higher petitions went to someone already in the US on a student visa. Hoover Policy Fellow Sarah Alla @Iagudaeva has the full analysis of what these workers studied and where they ended up working: hoover.org/research/h-1b-wor…

We didn’t ask you to remove them from your list. We asked you to sequester their ballots so a judge can decide whether they may be counted. As warned yesterday, processing a noncitizen’s ballot violates federal law. Go read 18 USC 611 and 2.
From the United States Election Assistance Commission's Best Practices for List Maintenance - "HAVA also clarified Congress’s intent in the NVRA that a voter cannot be removed from a voter registration list for the sole reason that they did not vote." -- eac.gov/sites/default/files/…
