It baffles me that some on the right demand the nanny state be abolished, only to turn around and demand a new one in its place. In that respect, some of you are acting no better than the left. The government’s job is to handle the serious stuff, like securing the border and controlling who comes into the country. It is not to dictate what you can and can’t do in your own personal life, so long as the only person at risk of being harmed is yourself. Adults should be free to spend their own money as they see fit. That’s called free will. As for me, I just want my country back. I couldn’t give a shit about people gambling. We may not have a country in the near future. Our lives are the ones currently being gambled with, and I care far more about that than whether you think gambling should be banned.

You do realise that in the UK you now live under a regime of surveillance that didn't exist in East Germany or Russia under communist government and which western democracies stood against for decades standing under the banner of freedom 🤔

Let's also keep in mind that we just dodged a bullet with one of the biggest internet vulnerabilities we have ever seen. And they STILL want to risk your safety with digital ID.
We warned that a social media ban would force digital ID and biometric scans just to go online. Now Ofcom has confirmed it. To prove you're over 16, Ofcom recommends methods like banking checks and facial age estimation. All of this invasive infrastructure - and they STILL admit "the risk of circumvention cannot be entirely eliminated, and some children will succeed in bypassing age checks". The death of online anonymity will come at the expense of a policy that doesn't even work.

It's insane just how quickly we've descended into this dystopia and despite not a single person agreeing with it, it goes ahead seemingly unopposed. When and how will people ever rise up against this??

Never forget: They’re not building a surveillance state because WE are the criminals. They’re building it because THEY are the criminals. And they'll weaponize it against ANYONE who dare challenge their power, privilege, and impunity.

Starmer actually held back on this, it was the TORIES, notably Badenoch & Trott who badgered and pushed to have it expedited because they wanted to satisfy a Tory financial donor. The Tories *want* this.
🚨 NEW: Ofcom says all adults should have to use their ID to access social media. • Ofcom has recommended four methods for verifying users’ ages ahead of the UK’s ban on social media for under-16s, which is due to come into force in March next year. • The four methods suggested, subject to government approval, are photo ID matching, banking-based checks, live facial age estimation and digital ID. • The regulator noted that verifying the ages of 16 and 17-year-olds is challenging because many do not have credit cards, full driving licences or passports. • Ofcom chief executive Dame Melanie Dawes said the ban can work if firms carry out highly effective age checks, and that the regulator will take action against companies that fail to comply.

‘BAN BAN BAN’ if you’re a full grown adult you should be able to make decisions on your own without the state forcing it.
Online Gambling is a bigger problem than in person gambling. In person gambling is typically far more than just making or losing money, it’s a day out and often a cultural event - like the races. There should be limits and bans on online gambling, but if people want to go to the races or waste a tenner on a fruity it’s not that much of a big deal.

The social media ban was never really about protecting children. The real goal was ending online anonymity, making it easier to identify and persecute dissidents, crushing free speech and advancing the plan to impose a totalitarian system of digital IDs. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

Restore chuds chimping out in the replies because their gaffer backs people having fun. So many boring neeks in this party unfortunately.
Gambling is not evil, and a Restore Britain Government will reduce taxes on the industry. Adults should be free to make their own choices about how they spend their own money - a wild thing for a political party to say, I know. Britain has a successful gambling industry that supports local economies all over the country. In my constituency alone we have horse racing, a greyhound stadium, plenty of arcades and more. We should be encouraging responsible operators to thrive, not taxing them into dust. Problem gambling is an issue and should be properly addressed. But punishing an entire industry, costing thousands of jobs, for the actions of a very small number is not the answer. Restore Britain will back British gambling.

Ofcom should be abolished and all of its staff sacked. It's difficult to understand how anyone could, in good conscience, work for such a vile censorship organisation. Perhaps some of them are quasi-Bolsheviks who think the state should tightly restrict freedom of speech.
