Yet another billionaire, Sir Peter Lampl, has abandoned Britain.
Sir Peter is a philanthropist who set up the Sutton Trust to improve the education of poorer children & invested ยฃ100m of his own money in it, while raising another ยฃ800m.
Explaining why he moved to the USA, Sir Peter blamed above all the inability to move around in London because of Labour's transport policies, saying:
"I donโt think Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, wants my type in his city. You know the sort I mean: wealth-creating entrepreneurs and philanthropists who need to get around the place rapidly to get their business done".
"The fact is that nearly a third of the 350 individuals featured on the Sunday Times Rich List in 2024 are no longer UK-based, and every day another one seems to join the traffic heading to the airport. Itโs an exodus."
"With a capital city in which we literally canโt get around by taxi and from which wealth creators are fleeing in their droves, is it any wonder that Britain, like its own traffic, is in the doldrums?"

If you make it easy for people to start and run businesses and don't get in their way too much, everyone gets wealthier
If you make it hard for people to start and run businesses and get in their way constantly, everyone gets poorer
