Also touched on expectations for Ovechkin in his farewell season
I do think teammates will embrace the ‘Farewell Tour,’ just as they frequently elevated their play over the years as Ovi chased individual records or milestones

Really well-produced @westwood1sports #MNF broadcast tonight from New Orleans
Kevin Harlan, @RossTuckerNFL & @JamieErdahl part of great crew
Use of archived audio & great long-form pregame piece from @sfutterman to highlight 20th anniversary of Superdome return was so well done

Djokovic improves to 33-0 lifetime in Beijing.
Djokovic through to his second final of the year (Australian Open) and will be seeking his first title of 2026
Anti-climactic finish in Beijing as Novak Djokovic advances to final after Daniil Medvedev defaulted after hitting ball (inadvertently?!) into the crowd & hitting fan
Djokovic was serving for match, up 75/53. Terrific match despite odd finish
Djokovic vs Alex de Minaur in final

🔥Beijing Semis: Djokovic vs Medvedev
The ‘Lacoste Bowl’ has been terrific so far. Heavy hitting and great court coverage from both
That said, the hunched-over Djokovic we saw at the US Open is back today. Having to really catch his breath after lengthy points

I grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada so I’ll always have a soft spot for what it was/what it represented
That said, for all the ‘end of era’ talk, tonight’s ’Saturday Night Hockey’ telecast really didn’t look or feel much different than what HNIC has been for past few yrs

The #Rays, #WhiteSox & #Guardians own the three lowest payrolls in the AL
They represent three of the four teams remaining on the AL side of the playoff bracket (Yankees- AL's highest payroll- are the other)
TB (25th), CWS (26th) & CLE (30th) among lowest payrolls in all MLB

Six consecutive Hurricanes power plays and only two Capitals power plays (one they scored on quickly) contributed to this
Alex Ovechkin played 12:46 in opening win in Carolina
Lowest TOI of career for any game 8 completed (no injury/ejection)
Factors: Didnt play preseason. #Caps spent 11:20 on PK. Front-end of B2B. Blowout
That said, given depth/other factors, 8's TOI/usage will look diff this yr

The Capitals loaded up on firepower this summer, but their season may be decided by a defense that ranked lower than it felt last year. I talked with @BenRaby31 to see how the Caps live up to their Cup promise with more than their reliable “eraser.” @WTOP wtop.com/washington-capitals…

Enjoyed this recap from Josh. Some healthy intrigue and optimism around the #Wizards. So much going on with the fresh faces & possibilities. Proof of that? Josh did this thorough Media Day recap and Alex Sarr (who was terrific last season) isn't even mentioned. Storylines galore
What happened during Wizards media day? Anthony Davis addressed his contract status, AJ Dybantsa described going to a team with established veterans, Kyshawn George & Will Riley provided muscle watch updates and more. Free to read at @TheAthleticNBA:
