"I would contend the Department has essentially been the vehicle for the government-run, union-controlled industrial model of education ... in every way not focused on doing the right thing for students.
I would argue we would be better off without a federal Department of Education because the role of policy and education really lies at the state level. The federal government has really skewed, not in a positive way, the whole notion of education."
