Spent several hours in
@ARCRaidersGame tonight, in both PvE and regular lobbies.
Main difference (other than the obvious) was far less container loot in PvE. There are still tons of ARC, so getting loot from them was not an issue. But if you're thinking you're going to use PvE mode to obtain those rare items for workbench upgrades, like Motors or Industrial Batteries, think again. There's just not a lot of containers to loot.
Thus, PvE is ideal for quests, some trial events, and ARC loot (regular and purples) while Regular mode is far better for searching containers and unlocking key rooms (since you can defend agains vultures). And, of course, special events (Night Raids, Frigate) are only available in the regular lobbies.
If Embark leaves it the way it is after the beta, I'd be fine with it. I'd prefer more container loot, but I can see the argument against it, because if it's left as-is PvE players like myself are still going to run regular lobbies because we need to obtain container loot. And that's probably what Embark wants. They probably don't want to make the PvE mode so enticing that PvE players choose it over the regular mode the vast majority of the time.
And again, I'm fine with that.
But I could also see a case where Embark increases the loot to be just as abundant as the regular mode, and in turn limits the PvE mode to maps without *any* current special event. So, no Matriarch, no Queen, no Frigate, no Emperor (the pass would be off-limits to PvE) and not even Bird City.
And I'd be fine with that, too.
The big win here is having a chance to play the game *some of the time* without the constant looming annoyance of rats, backstabbers, betrayers, campers, and griefers.
For a lot of us, that's just a mental drain we don't always want to engate with after a long day of work. We just want to login, make some progress (solo or with a friend) and do so without having someone piss in our Cheerios.
So, to
@EmbarkStudios I say: Thank You.
Appreciate this mode a lot and I hope it sticks in one form or another.
