If Social Security was that important to Boomers, then why didn't they fix it at any point in ~40 years they knew it was heading toward insolvency?

Boomers in the replies confirming my tweet.
Boomers would rather buy a motorhome than help their children with a down payment.

Looks like we won't stop doing this until the last maternity ward is torn down and replaced with a hospice center.
JUST IN: 🇺🇸 US boomers overwhelmingly support higher taxes on younger workers to maintain current Social Security benefits, poll shows.

I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.

Not good
U.S. Debt now exceeds 100% of GDP for the first time since World War 2 🤯👀
Community note
U.S. gross federal debt has exceeded 100% of GDP since 2012 and is currently above 122%. The chart shows publicly held debt (not total gross debt), which has only recently approached or reached ~100% of GDP. fred.stlouisfed.org/series/GFDEGDQ… fred.stlouisfed.org/series/FYGFGDQ…

“We’re trying to make sure we build no house? I don’t get it. People live in houses.” Marblehead’s David Modica is endorsing @YesOn7_MA, a ballot question to legalize starter homes and make it easier to build more houses for people across Massachusetts.

We spent 135% of what we collected in taxes last year. That’s crazy
Economist @elerianm thinks it's "ridiculous" that the US is running a 6% of GDP deficit and that it's time for responsible fiscal policy to step in.

My favorite set of questions
70% of Americans say the US would be better off with more people working in factories, but only 33% want to personally work in a factory, according to the Cato Institute/Morning consult survey conducted in March. ow.ly/npEM50ZQmys

I, personally, will not vote for any politician whose only proposal for Social Security solvency is increased taxes on working families. Benefit cuts must be part of any solution. This is one of my top political issues and will affect the way I vote.
Interesting that the generational transition coming in Washington will coincide with the need to address Social Security benefits/funding. Any solution will need a lot of Millennial votes.

Why can’t progressive cities build enough housing? Blame their own policies. Milan Singh explains why Boston Mayor Michelle Wu's expansion of inclusionary zoning is making it harder to build housing in the city. Take a look!

She has to be a foreign asset right?
All because of a DM on Microsoft Teams (or so he thinks . It definitely wasn’t that I had been collecting OSINT about him for years and set about carefully executing actions based on said knowledge in a serendipitous-seeming way as part of my Plan)
