Sharon (@nkatha_kk) is a developer based in Nairobi 🇰🇪, and an alumna of @DadaDevs and @btrust_builders.
She completed the 2026 BOSS Challenge, where she made her first major Bitcoin open-source contribution.
Her grant-funded work focuses on @braidpool's mining infrastructure: strengthening Stratum V1 reliability, addressing gaps in protocol implementation, and improving scalability.
This work helps connect existing mining ⛏️ equipment with decentralized pool software.
Nkatha also helps lead discussions at @BitDevsNBO meetups, supporting learning and knowledge-sharing within the local developer community.

A Bitcoin course that started in a WhatsApp group after its founder got scammed has now graduated 643 people across 28 countries.
That's @thecore21m, founded by @MukunguFelix in Nairobi. It runs a free online Bitcoin Diploma four times a year, monthly hands-on meetups with @Trezor hardware training, and a circular economy in Githurai called @bitcoingithurai where 16 merchants now accept Bitcoin Lightning payments.
The proof it works: graduates have gone on to start their own projects, from Bitcoin Githurai to Bitcoin School Kenya and many more... The Core also co-hosted Unconference 03 in Nairobi together with @MyFirstBitcoin_, 500+ people, where @EcoBitz_21m, @bitcoinbabies, @Bitsacco, @AfribitKibera and some other amazing Bitcoin projects were present.
On 26 September the meetup lands on a university campus for the first time, at Murang'a University of Technology, capacity doubled to 100.

On Saturday, I joined the @GroundswellPro3 Women for a powerful #Bitcoin session. I carried one of my team members from @BitEduhub @nicolewema
I was invited to speak on hardware wallets to bring confidence to the women when protecting their wealth and securing their futures.
With @minmo_to , @mary_imasuen of @Fedi , @okjodom , @TheKanikakapoor and @Ghaffar well the women and everybody else present wove resilience into community.
🚀 The take home was,,, Bitcoin is more than currency it’s choice, resilience, and sovereignty.

The grammar is new, the vocabulary unfamiliar, and the stakes feel high. 🌍📈
At @BitEduhub , we have been working to ensure we do not we teach a new “language” in a cold, sterile room. We need a vibe that feels like home.
