Sorry us Millennials can't buy homes for 100-300K back in the good old days of the 90s with 80-100K salaries anymore. Boomers are out of touch with the reality they created for us.

Let me give Ms. Whoopi a quick math lesson since she wants to be loud and wrong. (2019) A home that costs 250k with a down payment of 10% (25k) and a 3% interest rate for 30 yrs would be a monthly payment of $948.61 (2023) A home that cost 250k with a down payment of 10% (25k) and 8% interest rate for 30 yrs would be a monthly payment of $1650.97 In 2019, if you had the same parameters and your monthly payment was $1686.42 you could have afforded a house worth 425,000 It is not millennials who don’t want to work that is the problem.

People who have been wealthy for like 40 years should really just hush about the life of common folks. You no longer know what it's like and it is NOT anything like it was the last time you had to struggle smh

From the bottom of my heart: We aren't on this planet to make money. I have a mortgage and I'm successful enough, but I would throw it all away if I could figure out what actual happiness is, chasing someone else's dream with my finite amount of time on this Earth aint it.

This was a really bad take from her. All of my friends work full time and a lot of them do other stuff on the side. I’ve never made more than 50k a year and I have a bachelors degree from a top university (so do a lot of my friends). I would love to afford a house.

The average price for a house in the US is $431,000. The federal minimum wage is $7.25/hr. What exactly do you want us to do when in 1980 the average house cost about $47,200 and the federal minim wage was $3.10. Houses cost about 10x more but wages only about doubled.

Mortgage rates are 8%……….I bought my house in 2019 & got 2% apr, but i know people that make $150k & still can’t afford a home at 8% interest.

This is the definition of someone who lost touch…when you haven’t struggled financially in the last 10-20 we don’t expect you to understand…things have changed drastically

I love Whoopi but the fact that she came up when everything was dust cheaper than what it is today just make you say hmmmmm. If the prices were the same like they was back in the day we would all have a home of our own.

In Southern California, the average home price for a new home is $800k to $1M. That means a 20% down payment would be the entire value of a new home in the 1980’s.
