Mortgage rates are 8%……….I bought my house in 2019 & got 2% apr, but i know people that make $150k & still can’t afford a home at 8% interest.

I just read that with this interest rate. Even if you want a $300K home, you need to make $170K annually. You can’t even qualify making under $100K

My partner and I are in the 6 figures with our combined income and we can’t afford to purchase a home because 300k at 8% interest is an astronomical monthly mortgage.

100k jobs are not even a lot of money anymore depending on where you live. In NJ roughly speaking, you have to be making 150k before you see that 100k take home. An 80k salary is pretty much 60k after taxes.
