Actually, the “Slutcon” “controversy” is very simple and straightforward. “Slutcon” an organized pimping ring. Let me explain. Men pay thousands of dollars to attend (just like a customer!). Women apply to work the event (just like an employee!). Female workers either get paid directly, gain work connections and leverage, and/or boost their own sex work side hustle careers. Open your eyes: it’s an event organized so a group of hired female workers can financially benefit in exchange for providing sexual services that men pay for. Aella, like millions of successful-but-aging prostitutes before her, is making the transition from prostitute to pimp (or madam, as they used to call it). The fact that supposedly intelligent “tech people” from the “tech sphere” are such utter philistines and naïve rubes that seemingly none of you are even capable of identifying the oldest trick in the book is truly risible. Instead, what we get is literal days and days of “nuanced” and breathless discourse over “the delicate issue of Slutcon🥺”. You are all rubes. Marks. And so utterly arrogant in your belief of your own exceptionalism that you count yourselves above human nature, too interesting to learn any human history, and that’s why this sphere is constantly defeated over and over by the simplest and pettiest villains of the human story: cults, hookers, and swindlers.
Slutcon recap: - There's an autistic sex party. This isn't my thing, but fine, autists like sex and need help socializing and having a thing where autism is normal is for the best - Some autistic sex preferences are out of line with mainstream sex preferences. Not normal "weird," but trigger a disgust response. Probably irrational per se, as most disgust responses are, definitely a thing that's happening. - However, the slutcon attendees overlap 80% (lets say) with AI safety advocates, which means most attendees are politically and professionally involved in an emerging industry with public facing goals - Therefore, professional advancement and networking are gatekept by attending the consensual rape orgy, through no fault of the organizers, because it's coincidental that the overlap is so huge - This is also terrible publicity given that they want electoral support for their political goals Most of the slutcon attendees are my mutuals, they're just trying to do their thing, they're not trying to do anything "wrong," but the organizers are oblivious to the fact that this is something where optics matter and it's cooking their political goals.

America’s corporate governance system is broken, and it’s killing public companies. Look no further than Cracker Barrel: Decades of brutal mismanagement have seen one incompetent CEO after another walk away with a massive paycheck while customers and actual shareholders take a beating. Why does this keep happening? Because proxy advisory firms like ISS are corrupt. They blindly rubber-stamp failing boards year after year, protecting the corporate elite while burning shareholder value to the ground. The root of the rot is index funds. There's no question that indexing one's money is a smart financial move for most people. But just because you passively index your investments doesn't mean your corporate votes should be handed over to the managers of your fund so they can play politics. Right now, passive funds hold massive, unchecked voting blocks while having zero skin in the game themselves. It is time for a simple rewrite of the rules: We need to index the votes of index fund investors. Passive index funds should be forced to automatically split their votes to proportionately mirror those of retail and active institutional shareholders — the people actually doing the research, risking their capital, and fighting for performance in the companies they hold shares in. No more rubber-stamping. A change like this will immediately strip corrupt gatekeepers like ISS of their toxic influence. True accountability happens when lazy, overpaid boards actually answer to the stakeholders they represent, rather than screwing them over. Actual, logic-driven governance when your money is passive happens when your vote passively follows the voting decisions of the actual market. We need to stop letting passive capital protect active incompetence. By stripping index funds of their arbitrary voting power and empowering engaged investors, we will finally torch corporate cronyism and usher American capital markets into a golden age of capitalism.

Sydney Sweeney is really smart, she is making bank on culture war controversies despite not being remotely conservative at all. All she had to do was say nothing at all, not get involved in politics. She hasn't explicitly endorsed a single Republican policy. She's just a white person who hasn't called out Trump and MAGA, that is all it takes really for you to be labeled as problematic

Big Short investor Steve Eisman says the AI labs know they have no moats and are manufacturing a crisis to get regulation that hands them a duopoly "I think this is all nonsense." [ You think it's all nonsense? ] "All nonsense. I think that there's something else completely going on here. ... What I think is happening is that token maxing is over. The open weight models are taking big market share. I think these companies are very nervous. They realize that there are no moats around their business whatsoever, and they're trying to manufacture a crisis that will create regulation, and that they think they can then manipulate to create the moats, to create the duopoly that they want." [ Wow. ] "That's what I think is going on." "Honestly, I think this whole Terminator thing is garbage. That's for sure."

Economists and politicians love to say, “Immigrants from this low-trust country have high salaries; therefore, they are good for the economy,” but the same argument could be made about the success of psychopaths. Psychopathy is adaptive in a frequency-dependent fashion. The fewer psychopaths there are in a human system, the more adaptive psychopathy is because victims don’t suspect it as much. Make the system full of psychopaths, and everyone’s performance gets worse. In the same way, low-trustworthiness immigrants tend to do reasonably well in the high-trust West. Conversely, when together in their ancestral homelands, they tend to live amid corruption and poverty. Individual performance is insufficient proof of collective benefit. The question is not merely how individuals perform within a given system, but how they affect the systems they inhabit. And data from the last 500 years of human migration show that it’s the people more than the place that explain countries’ socioeconomic outcomes. There is no magic soil. Select your neighbors wisely
