It is too early in the season to know who is going to be ranked and who won’t be at the end of the year.
Texas faces as many ranked opponents the rest of the season as Indiana, Miami, Notre Dame, and Texas Tech COMBINED.
A 3 loss Texas team would have a MORE IMPRESSIVE resume than any of these teams could POSSIBLY have.

The conference schedule wasn’t the mistake, the conference expansion was the mistake.
Lane Kiffin took a not-so-subtle shot at the SEC 9 game schedule during Wednesday’s teleconference. He and I spoke briefly afterwards and he explained why.
A graphic shared in a group text among SEC coaches illustrated the inequities in scheduling among conferences.
“(The nine game schedule) was a poor decision,” Kiffin told me.
Texas has 7 remaining games against ranked opponents. Kiffin pointed out a Big 12 school with one ranked opponent and an ACC school with none.
“I understand money was involved for TV contracts, but where does that get you when you just add totally different schedules than anyone else plays?”

The SEC, who had 5 playoff teams last year, does not need more help.
NEW: The College Football Playoff committee will now consider a strength-of-conference metric in its selection process, @CFBHeather reports.
The new metric will help determine the strength of each conference based on the schedule strength of each team in its league.

If we ever do get a super league, 8 9-Team conferences would be perfect. 72 teams.
8 conference games, and 4 OOC games against the other 8 conferences.
NEW: Dabo Swinney says he favors less conferences games after Georgia and Clemson cancel series:
"I hate it. ... I wish everybody played 7 conference games, and then you had more crossover games all throughout college football."
