🔥 Tim Farron absolutely bang on here about refugees. Govt incompetence has caused demonisation, societal stress, vast costs & inefficiencies, while also removing any genuine deterrence.

Because if you're not going to be allowed to stay, and you're going to be sent home quickly, there's no point in going. Rwanda wasn't any kind of deterrent either - no one believed it was ever going to work, or happen to them.

Oh it’s a deterrent for the tiny number that are actually denied. We need a deterrent for the civil servants granting them all leave to stay. They’re supposed to do checks so maybe if they’re named every time one of their stamps turns out to be a violent criminal? It’s a start.
