I can almost guarantee that when @BBCNews covers today's events on the evening news it will, in typical fashion, remove any hint of Israeli heroism, and go to great lengths to avoid giving people the slightest impression that Israelis might actually be amazing people.

NHS doctor accused of posting support for Hamas online appears in court.
Dr Rehiana Ali, 46, who is a consultant neurologist, appeared at the Old Bailey today after being charged with four counts of expressing an opinion or belief in support of a proscribed organisation. She also faces a further seven charges of publishing written material to stir up racial hatred.
The charges relate to social media posts allegedly published between 1st December 2024 and 31st March 2025 – including one published on 7th October 2024, the one-year anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel.
At the court hearing, Dr Ali reportedly described herself as being “attacked by the Jewish lobby”.
She has been released on unconditional bail, with a plea hearing scheduled for 5th March, and a subsequent trial on 19th July next year.
We will be following developments in this case closely.

A flydubai jet left Dubai for Tel Aviv this morning and came within minutes of becoming a mass-casualty event. Flight FZ1073, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 carrying roughly 160 to 180 people, including a large Israeli contingent and, in one account, 27 children, did not land at Ben Gurion. It dropped thousands of feet, squawked a hijack code, and ended on the ground at Tabuk in Saudi Arabia. Everyone lived. That is the only clean fact that should not be argued.

This was one of the most blatant cases of deceit ever captured on film. And it wasn’t just Hamas manufacturing the lie. The Red Cross was involved too.
The bag doesn’t come out of the rubble. It was thrown from an open window of a building into the dirt, covered, and then brought back up on cue. An excavator works the same hole. A man with a phone stands in the frame and records the second appearance as if it were the first.
That isn’t how you treat the dead. That is how you build a lie.
And the longer footage tape is even worse, because it’s not only Hamas doing theater for a camera they control. When the Red Cross team arrived, they don’t stop the scene. They tell the men to put the bag back in the ground a second time and then dig it out again so the recovery can be witnessed, dated, and signed as if the organization had found a body instead of a rehearsal.
Complicity is the polite word. They made themselves extras in the production and then left with the authority to call it documentation.
This is why the casualty numbers cannot be treated as a ledger. The grave is temporary. The camera is the point. And the people in the vests who were supposed to be the check on the lie agreed to restage the lie so they could say they were there when it happened.
