Due to cooler temperatures the North Metro Fire Rescue District, in partnership with the City and County of Broomfield Police Department, has removed all current fire restrictions, effective immediately. This recommendation is made in consultation with Fire Prevention based on an assessment of current and recent meteorological conditions and fuel moisture levels. @NMFirePIO

The Broomfield Police Department will host a Community Meet and Greet on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2-5 p.m. at Carniceria Chihuahua, 1495 US-287. This informal event is a chance to meet and talk with BPD police officers, detectives and victim advocates in a welcoming environment. Ask questions, learn more about how Broomfield PD serves your community and get information about crime reporting, safety resources and how BPD works with other law enforcement agencies. Pick up some giveaways and complimentary items. Residents are encouraged to stop by, say hello and get to know the people behind the badge.

A SPECIAL REUNION WITH A VERY SPECIAL LITTLE GUY! 👶
In early August, several Broomfield Police officers responded to a medical call on the Northwest Parkway after a baby boy decided he just couldn't wait to make his grand entrance into the world!
Baby Levi was born on the side of the road! Our 911 dispatcher helped coordinate the emergency response, ensuring officers and firefighters got to the family as quickly as possible. The first officer on scene assessed the situation and helped calm the new parents, while a second officer positioned his patrol vehicle to protect the family from passing traffic.
North Metro Fire Rescue District also responded and took over care of mom and baby. Nearly two months later, the family stopped by the Police Department for a special reunion with the dispatcher, officers and firefighters who helped them that unforgettable day! We're happy to report that baby Levi and mom are doing great! It was wonderful to see the family again, this time under much less stressful circumstances! @NMFirePIO

Our Crime Scene Investigators and Crime Scene Technicians approach every case with precision, objectivity and a commitment to the truth. From processing crime scenes and examining evidence to improving procedures and supporting investigators, their work plays an essential role in the criminal justice system.
A special shoutout to Bridget, Casey, Caitlyn and Viansa for the skill, professionalism and dedication they bring to BPD every day. Your work may often happen behind the scenes, but its impact is seen throughout our department and community.

What a great morning for our annual Police Chief’s Senior Walk! ☕🍩🚶♀️ We’re grateful to everyone who joined Chief Enea Hempelmann for coffee, donuts and a one-mile walk and talk.
This marks the fourth year of the Senior Walk, and each year the BPD creates a special commemorative pin for participants to add to their lanyards. Four years, four pins and plenty of great memories!
It’s kind of like collecting pins at Disneyland… just not quite as cool. 😉👮♀️
Thanks to everyone who came out to walk, chat and spend the morning with us. We always enjoy the opportunity to connect with our senior community!

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the Broomfield Public Safety Communications Center (911) received a call about a blue truck near Chase Street and 120th Avenue with two flat tires. Flat tires aren't necessarily unusual—but driving on the rims with sparks flying from the roadway definitely caught someone's attention.
A nearby Broomfield Police Officer located the truck and conducted a traffic stop. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the 23-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. This is a great reminder that if something doesn't look right, give us a call. The information you provide could help prevent a crash, an injury or even save a life.

TOMORROW! Join Chief Hempelmann for the 2026 Police Chief’s Senior Walk! 🚶♀️🚶♂️👩🦽
The walk is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. outside the Broomfield Community Center located at 280 Spader Way.
Bring a friend and join Chief Hempelmann for this one mile walk and talk. There’s no cost and the walk will happen rain or shine! Walkers and wheelchairs are welcome and all participants get a drawstring backpack, lanyard and collectors pin!
Participants are encouraged to register for the Healthy Hearts luncheon at the BCC following the walk (Fees apply for lunch.) Hope to see you there! Register for the lunch by calling 303-464-5500.

Community-oriented policing is at the heart of everything we do. 💙
Chief of Police Enea Hempelmann spent Monday morning getting to know residents at Village Cooperative in Broomfield, a senior living community near 136th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.
Over coffee and cookies, residents had the opportunity to ask Chief Hempelmann about her role, the BPD and the future of policing in Broomfield. Conversations like these help strengthen relationships, build trust and keep us connected to the community we serve.

A special thank you to Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) for showing their appreciation for our officers this weekend!
On Saturday, September 12, Officer Kearsley and K9 Rodo joined Officer Tomazic and fellow BPD personnel at the Parkside Center at Anthem Highlands, where members of HSS presented them with Kalavas, traditional Hindu bracelets that symbolize protection and blessings. And, of course, Rodo received one too! 🐾
The event was also a wonderful opportunity to connect with local families and children, including getting creative and crafting Ganesha figures out of clay.
We’re grateful to HSS for the warm welcome, thoughtful gesture and opportunity to spend time together. 💙

This week, as we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we will be sharing newspaper clippings and photographs from that tragic day and the days that followed.
This article is from September 24, 2005. Like communities across the country, Broomfield was finding ways to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost.
For several years after, until Broomfield designed and built a permanent memorial, the city and county assembled the Healing Field featuring thousands of American flags sponsored by local residents, businesses, churches, nonprofits and organizations.
