Very good point also.
I felt the same about $ARX.TO, number of 'shots they didn't take': Investment Grade, impeccable balance sheet & couldn't even pick off a few distressed / low multiple Nat Gas juniors in core plays.
Overall like the $CVE deal, the right fit (Integrated).
$CVE had 13 YEARS to buy $ath.to for a tiny fraction of the price they ended up paying.
It is fascinating to see how mgmt/boards ignore counter-cyclical opportunities & instead buy when valuations are nosebleed.
If they loved it so much, why didnβt they buy when it was cheap?

Not exactly the same, but a simple analogue on the Nat Gas / LNG side.
An EP confined to a domestic market (WCS @ Hardisty), or in this case AECO collects $12/boe on their gas.
In the right hands (Shell) that same gas is sold for $220/boe to JKM / #LNG.
Will take a few years to play out, but essentially #TeamDale / $CR.TO:
Moved their #NaturalGas (75% production) from thin domestic netbacks (boosted by #Condensate) - $15-30.
To 2026 (insatiable) margins via $TOU.TO 's future #LNG marketing* ($90-120).

The problem is that this minor addition, like the others, becomes cumulative, and compounding. Your tax payers have endured over a decade of un relenting incremental tax increases, combined with unconscionable deficits.
Everyone in B.C. deserves healthcare they can count on. To help pay for it, the BC NDP's plan includes asking the top 4% of earners to contribute a little more. But even after these changes, B.C. will stay one of the lowest-tax provinces in Canada. π
