After twenty-three years, we’ve finally pulled out of the last Israel proxy war in Iraq. Twenty-three years ago, I was there.
I met with Iraqi Christians in their homes, and taught U.S. government in the universities on a State Department visa. But the real goal was the gospel.
When the U.S. pulled out of Iraq the first time in 2011, ISIS came. Now, all of my Christian friends there are dead. We lured them out of hiding, and left. Then, ISIS knew exactly who to kill.
Every. Single. Time the U.S. “liberates” a people, it leads to piles of dead Christians. Right now, Iraq is in a 4-day celebration for their sovereignty. That’s not a pro-U.S. celebration, in case you didn’t know. The fireworks are for us leaving. They’re not exactly in our honor.
Now, we get to see what absolute dumpster fire happens. If it’s like every other nation we have “helped” since the end of WWII, it will be worse than we came, install even more radical leaders, and the terrorists farmed by U.S. foreign policy will be ready to harvest.
Reagan says the most frightening words in English are, “We’re from the government, and we’re here to help.” Neocons think that’s only true domestically. It isn’t.
There’s not a single regime America has toppled in the last 70 years that we did not regret toppling within a decade. Unless your nation is in imminent danger, war does not solve problems; it makes them. It does not stop terrorism; it causes it. It does not stop nuclear development; it hastens it.
Learn lessons. And pray for the Christians we put in jeopardy every time we do what Israel asks us.
