Statement from Robert Cornicelli National President Veterans for America First September 11, 2026 The Attack on America Today, on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, we remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken from us, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless Americans whose lives were forever changed. We also honor the men and women who answered our nation’s call in the years that followed. Many served multiple deployments, endured wounds both visible and unseen, and made tremendous sacrifices in defense of our country. We must never forget those who did not return home, those who continue to carry the burdens of war, and the Gold Star families who live with that sacrifice every day. The two appointments add extensive experience in journalism, government, national security, finance, public affairs and municipal public service to VFAF's national network. Luisa Deason Luisa Deason joins VFAF with decades of experience spanning television journalism, federal public affairs, immigration enforcement, national-security communications and law-enforcement outreach. Deason began her television journalism career with Telemundo Houston, covering homicides, drug smuggling, immigration and other issues affecting the Hispanic community. She later joined the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service in Houston, overseeing public affairs for a 52-county jurisdiction. Following September 11 and the federal reorganization that created the Department of Homeland Security, Deason continued in public affairs roles connected to INS and later U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Her work involved immigration and national-security matters, multi-agency investigations, crisis communications, human smuggling and trafficking, narcotics, violent gangs, document fraud, worksite enforcement and critical-infrastructure security.
