China’s Maritime Threat Doesn’t Deserve a Pause: Last October in Busan, South Korea, Xi-Trump agreed to a raft of deals, most obligations at best China has only partially met. When it comes to Chinese shipbuilding and shipping - naval threats, shipping manipulation/coercion, and espionage from their ships should weigh on the conversations today in the White House. The pause on fines/fees on Chinese shipping and shipbuilding due to unfair and predatory practices is due to lapse in November. Might be a good time to end that pause now… and certainly not resume it as the fines/fees are intended to fund an American maritime revival which President Trump has committed to vigorously.
