CCA wrapped up our advocacy week with MPs @JohnBarlowMP, @MADandurand, @shuvmajumdar, and officials from @AAFC_Canada. Our message for Budget 2026: support livestock price insurance so producers can manage risk and grow the herd. We also continued to advocate for no additional Mercosur beef access and tariff-free Canada-US trade.

Canadian beef has a strong future, and it starts with our producers. I sat down with the Board of Directors of the Canadian Cattle Association, including Kevin Simmons, a cow-calf farmer from PEI, who brings an important Island perspective to the table. Our discussions focused on the priorities that matter most—from opening new markets to finding new ways to grow the herd. Last year, Canada’s cattle herd grew by 3.2 per cent, the largest increase in more than two decades. That’s encouraging momentum, but we know there’s more to do to strengthen the future of Canadian beef. @CanCattle @ManitobaBeef @BovinsNBCattle @SaskCattlemens @albertabeef @BeefFarmersON @NSCattle

CCA's Board of Directors met with Minister @CornwallHeath and officials today to discuss growing Canada's herd, Canada-U.S. relations, and our opposition to any Mercosur beef access. Our pre-budget ask: strengthen Livestock Price Insurance so producers, especially the youth, have the confidence to rebuild and expand. Read more at: cattle.ca/budget-2026-growin…

CCA welcomes Prime Minister @MarkJCarney's announcement today, boosting productivity through the new tax incentive. We will work with @CornwallHeath and @FP_Champagne's offices to ensure farm infrastructure for productivity improvements are eligible (e.g. roller compacted concrete). CCA is working collaboratively with stakeholders and will communicate with members as more details are known. Read the Productivity Mega Deduction announcement: pm.gc.ca/en/news/news-releas…

Canada's cattle producers are ready to deliver on government goals for economic growth, food security, and international competitiveness. To seize that opportunity, producers need the right tools to invest in the future and their herds with confidence. For Budget 2026, CCA recommends including Livestock Price Insurance in Canada's business risk management suite with government cost-shared premiums.
