Is this because you want them to stay silent and support your awful Pollution Delivery Plans?
The government is funding one of England's biggest land purchases for nature. £1.94 million to secure the future of The Rothbury Estate in Northumberland. @WildlifeTrusts will manage the estate for nature recovery. Learn more: wildlifetrusts.org/news/uk-g…

Everyone would love it if there was no rough sleeping, me included. But £190,000 per rough sleeper? This is a good example of how Labour doesn't do basic economics, takes taxpayer's very hard earned money and pours it into bureaucracies that don't fix the problem, eg Shelter. They are spending the proceeds of your work.
Car crash interview. £874 million to get about 4,000 people off the street. That’s £190,000 each. Buy them a house. Instead it’s contracts, outreach teams and councils deciding where the cash goes. Rough sleeping rose under Burnham in Manchester. Now we’re nationalising the failure.

Chancellor John Healey is set to hike alcohol duty and slap 2p on every pint in the Budget. 🍺 The government takes over 10 times more than the pub owner. The cost of living crisis is a cost of government taxation of small businesses crisis.

@mhclg the uproar on FB pages from communities is palpable with the amount of green belt going to housing in south and west Hertfordshire because of your ridiculously excessive housing targets ..it’s completely unsustainable..where is the water supply, sewage, road infrastructure and healthcare? Where will wildlife live and where will we grow our food? Change the grey belt definition, revise the excessive housing targets and end the call for sites because if you don’t you will lose the next general election. This is not poor quality scrubland, a disused petrol station or car park ⬇️ #GreenNotGrey @CHinchliffMP @libdemdaisy @TweetingCollins @OliverDowden

British brewers already pay 12 times the beer duty of Germany and Spain. Piling another 2p on a pint on top of higher National Insurance is just going to lead to fewer pubs, fewer jobs and lower tax receipts.

Historic England (government department) published this report in 2025 about how 670,000 homes could be delivered reusing existing buildings. It’s been ignored. historicengland.org.uk/resea… #dontwastebuildings

Looks like this budget is going to put the final nails in hospitality’s coffin. Way to show you hate an industry without saying it. We ask for help and we’re given… wage rises, tax rises, duty rises. At least the gherkin on your burger will be cheaper eh 🤯

🚨 Britain has lost more than 90% of its abattoirs since the 1970s, leaving many livestock farmers struggling to access local slaughter facilities. With concerns growing over the future of British meat production, a coalition of more than 150 organisations, businesses and individuals is calling for urgent Government action. How about this government stops the obscenely excessive housing targets and the hundreds of AI data centres to be built so there’ll be enough water for everyone, the environment and our firefighters? Or is that too simple @andyburnham ? theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…?

My new article in @britwildlife argues that the GCSE in Natural History must keep its nerve: studying nature must remain at its heart. Related issues matter, but they must not crowd out learning to observe, identify and understand the living world.

We have a surplus of homes….Not this crazy 6.9m shortage. Also, the planning system is not holding up housebuilding. Firstly, there are issues in the market and secondly, Government won’t fund all the social housing required.
Replying to @rcolvile
As @CPSThinkTank has calculated, we are 6.9 million houses short of the European average. And the shortage is greatest in and around our cities. London is on course to build just a quarter of its housing target this year, with no development at all in four of its boroughs.
