Great to speak today at the @rcpsych @rcpsychGAP Annual Conference, at the historic @RCPEdin. Provided an overview of new and emerging pharmacotherapies for psychosis, then fielded some really thoughtful questions in the Q&A session that followed.

Forgot to ask colleagues to take a quick pic of me up there. If you were there and happened to pap me (maybe when taking a pic of a slide), please do send it across! #psychiatry #academicpsychiatry #psychosis #antipsychotics #psychopharmacology

Well that’s a pretty (unnecessarily?) comprehensive auto-reply… At least I have it in writing that they won’t see it here 🤭

Thanks very much for inviting us to contribute @EpistInnocence @lisabortolotti! The blogpost is a few-minute read summary of our (me, Phil Corlett @yalebelieflab, Steve Fleming @MPC_CompPsych, @ProfRobHoward) recent narrative review looking at the fixity of delusions.
How fixed are delusions? On today's post, George Chapman and Robert Howard discuss fixity of delusions. imperfectcognitions.blogspot… #newresearch #delusions #psychopathology

Poor Egypt. Robbed, many would argue.

Unacceptably one-sided refereeing from Francois Letexier. On the background of a (relatively short) senior career littered with controversy. Feeling deeply for Egypt, who have been absolutely robbed.

Thanks Scienmag for covering our recent review (rdcu.be/fm8jp) (even if my AI-generated article radar is sounding loudly!) - scienmag.com/the-unchanging-… And to @NatMentHealth for including our work in your latest Editorial - nature.com/articles/s44220-0…

Delighted to see our Review out today in @NatMentHealth Since Jaspers, delusions have been (perhaps somewhat economically) described as “fixed” false beliefs We set out to find all articles that have touched - to a greater or lesser extent - on the issue of delusion “fixity” 📄
Led by @Chapman_GE our new paper on the fixed nature of delusions is out today in Nature Mental Health.

The Review offers what we hope will be a couple of helpful contributions to the field 💡 namely, a tighter vocabulary and a working model of delusion fixity Humongous thanks to co-authors Phil Corlett (@yalebelieflab), Steve Fleming and @ProfRobHoward 🙇‍♂️

Four million physician hours are spent on mandatory modules each year. They represent not just clinical time lost but “evenings reclaimed and cognitive load reduced.” Redundant training and low-value modules should be a thing of the past. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

Mitochondriac (n.): A person with a disproportionate tendency to invoke mitochondrial dysfunction as a preferred explanatory model for nonspecific symptoms, impaired functioning, or complex clinical phenomena. *inspired by a comment by a subscriber on my YouTube channel who came up with this term.
