Good leadership is grounded in active listening. Listening to your people, listening to your community, and listening to your instincts. At the Halton Regional Police Service, we regularly host the Chiefs Corner - an internal town-hall that brings our sworn and civilian members together. It's their chance to ask me questions live and share what's on their mind. With 44 years of experience under my belt, and as the longest serving Chief of Police in Canada, I wholeheartedly believe that our people are our greatest strength, bringing diversity of experience and perspective to the table that has the power to drive policing forward. Here's a behind the scenes look at how it all comes together.

Police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. The least we can do in response is have their backs, no matter what. Today, I wrote to the Prime Minister outlining a series of practical steps to support and protect our brave women and men in uniform.

I've had 44 years to reflect on policing and what it means across Canada. There are thousands of police officers - dedicated professionals - who are committed to keeping everyone else safe. As a leader in policing, it is a tremendous privilege to serve alongside our men and women on the frontlines and be given the opportunity to look out for their wellness.

I'm honoured to be joined by the Halton Regional Police Service's leadership team and our members in Ottawa for the National Police and Peace Officers' Memorial as we remember those who sacrificed their lives to protect their community. Strong organizations are built on strong relationships. When we lead together and share the same goal of protecting our communities, it reinforces our connection and the reasons we proudly wear the badge. It is a privilege to serve, and stand united in honour of their sacrifice. Heroes in life, not death - we will not forget them.
